Chennai, 28^th June, 2014: In keeping with its commitment to bring breakthrough technologies for customers across segments, Hero MotoCorp (HMCL), the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has rolled out the new “Xtreme” with the innovative ‘Engine Immobiliser’ technology.

The 150cc Xtreme, which was also showcased at the Delhi Motor Show in February, offers advanced safety & styling with cutting-edge technology – further consolidating HMCL’s position in the popular 150cc segment.

The Xtreme is now available at all Hero dealerships across the country in six exciting colors – Magma Orange, Jazz Blue, Panther Black, Mercuric Silver and Fiery Red.

The new Xtreme is a perfect blend of style, performance and safety. The company is confident that customers will love the new bike with its unique feature, i.e., the engine immobiliser. This will act as a security feature for customers and will also eliminate the threat of theft or loss of the motorcycle. This feature may later be extended to several other models

The engine immobiliser is a security device that prevents the engine from running without the correct key. The Xtreme is powered by a 150cc air-cooled, 4-stroke single cylinder OHC, producing maximum power of 10.6 KW (14.4 Ps) and maximum torque of 12.80 Nm @ 6500 rpm.

Yet another innovative feature which has been introduced in the Xtreme is the Side-Stand-Sensor with automatic ignition cut-off, which means if the side-stand is on, then it also automatically immobilizes the engine.

That’s not all – the bike also comes with a host of stylish exterior features including a jazzy new speedometer, stylish headlight with highbrow position lamps, new LED tail light with light guides, and sleek fuel tank among others. The new Xtreme will also be equipped with a mobile charger socket proving greater utility to the rider.

HMCL has also recently launched the “Splendor iSmart” with ‘i3S Technology’ (Idle Stop and Start System) to further consolidate its leadership position. i3S is a revolutionary green technology that automatically shuts the engine when idling and turns it on, when needed, with a simple press of the clutch, giving more mileage in congested cities.

Hero closed the FY’14 with its highest-ever annual sales of over 6.25 million units of two-wheelers and immediately followed it up with its highest-ever non-festive season monthly sales of 602,481 units in May this year.
