Hyundai Motor India Reiterates its Focus on Safety & Culture



o   National Fire Service Day celebrated at Hyundai Motor India on 16th April 2014
o   Prizes awarded to Fire Service Day Competition winners at HMI

Chennai, 16th April 2014: Hyundai Motor India Ltd commemorated the National Fire Service Day on 16th April,2014. Various competitions on fire safety were organized on the factory premises where 185 employees participated in different competitions which included Hydrant Operation, Bucket Brigade, Extinguisher Operation and Target Shooting. The competitions were targeted at increasing the awareness levels of the employees and getting them prepared in case of any eventuality either at home or office. The celebrations form a part of HMI’s continuous focus on improving safety & culture among its workers.  Prizes in 4 categories were given to encourage employees

A safe working environment is a priority at HMI. The company has the latest in Fire safety equipment and  owns  two modern fire fighting vehicles A multitude of activities are held regularly to sensitize employees towards safe practices even if it means going that extra mile- which could be perceived as inconvenient. Monthly drills are held at different shop floors to familiarize and prepare employees with the latest techniques and equipments for any eventuality.  Training and competitions help in increasing the effectiveness during actual firefighting. The fire safety team even assists the local Fire and Rescue Station at Sriperumbudur, for firefighting operations in the vicinity, if the need arises.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. ST Kwon, Executive Director, Administration, said, “When it comes to safety, we cannot take even that one chance. HMI is fully committed to safety and has invested heavily in safeguarding people and assets in our factory. Safety has very high priority in HMI and we are determined to make employees understand the importance of safety through drills and competitions to instill confidence in every employee. A well trained employee will deal with any situation appropriately and will not hesitate to use the fire safety equipment in times of need. The ever increasing numbers at these events are a proof that more and more employees are realizing the importance of safety”
